Two Swedes have been shot in Istanbul. One of them is said to be dead.

The two men are said to have connections to the Swedish gang milieu and gang leader Ismail Abdo.

Late last night, three perpetrators were chased by police in Istanbul.

The shooting occurred at a cafe in Istanbul at 11pm on Sunday evening, local time, several Turkish media outlets write.

According to the Turkish IHA, a fight between two groups must have occurred outside the cafe. This then allegedly degenerated into shooting where two people were hit.

One man must have been shot in the leg. He has been taken to hospital by ambulance, the injuries are not expected to be life-threatening.

The other must have died from his injuries, something like SVT was the first to report on.

Major police action: Perpetrators are being hunted

Three suspected perpetrators are being hunted. They are said to have been seen fleeing the scene, writes Turkish TRT Haber.

Police have searched the place and its surroundings for a long time. A gun and eight empty cartridges are said to have been found. A car must also have been examined, it is believed to belong to the suspected perpetrators, writes IHA.

Threaded coupling

The two shot are said to both have close connections to the Swedish gang leader Ismail Abdo, also known as the “Snowman”.

The man who is said to have been shot dead is singled out as one of the leaders in the so-called Zero network – a criminal network based in Jordbro.

FACT Background: The Foxtrot conflict

Ismail “Strawberry” Abdo, 34, and Foxtrot network leader Rawa “Kurdish Fox” Majid, 37, are former best friends turned arch-rivals. Their internal conflict is the cause of many of the acts of violence that shook Sweden in the past year.

The reason for their conflict is unclear, but the police suspect that it has to do, among other things, with a larger drug shipment that was lost.

In late summer 2023, the conflict escalated when JIsmail Abdo’s mother was shot dead in her home. The attack was the starting point for a series of acts of violence during the autumn.
