Two shot at emergency accommodation for drug addicts in Malmö

Two men in their 30s and 40s have been shot by police in central Malmö.

It was just after 10pm on Monday that an ambulance was called to an emergency accommodation for drug addicts.

– We went to the scene to assist paramedics, who were called there due to mental illness. A threatening situation arose at the scene which made the police feel compelled to fire shots, says Rickard Lundqvist to TT.

Two men were hit by the shots and taken to hospital by ambulance. According to Region Skåne’s website, both are seriously injured.

The police are investigating

The incident is being investigated as a serious illegal threat to an official, but since the police used a service weapon, the police’s actions will also be investigated by a special prosecutor.

– Right now we can’t go out with more details, because the prosecutor needs to make an assessment of what happened first, says Rickard Lundqvist to TT.
