Two shootings in Västerås – one person dead

At around 19:50 on Friday, the police received several calls about a suspicious shooting in Karlfeldtsplatsen on Norra Skallberget in Västerås. A 35-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound and was taken to hospital with serious injuries. During the night, the police announced that the man had died of his injuries and that the case was being investigated as a murder.

Thread connections are investigated

The police have worked with a large number of resources in the area and interviewed witnesses. No one has yet been detained in the case.

The police are also investigating whether the shot man has any connection to the gang criminal environment.

– Nothing I can confirm, but it is of course something we are investigating, says Magnus Jansson Klarin at the police.

New shooting at residence

Shortly after 03:00 on Saturday night, the police were called to Vallby in Västerås due to the caller hearing several explosions.

Several shots had been fired at a residence in the area and a 25-year-old man with a gunshot wound was found at the scene.

According to the police, he must have been inside the home when he was shot.

– There must have been more people in there, but I cannot say where in the home they were during the incident, says Matilda Isaksson, RLC officer at the police.

Attempted murder

The man was taken to hospital by ambulance. His injury status is unclear.

The police are on the scene and an area has been cordoned off for a technical investigation.

A preliminary investigation into attempted murder has been launched. No one has been arrested yet.
