At least six people have died when two planes collided at an air show in Dallas in the United States. Both planes, of old Air Force models, crashed at Dallas Executive Airport.

Five people were on board one plane and one person on the other when the accident happened shortly after noon on Saturday, local time. According to Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson, “no spectators or others on the ground have been reported injured”.

One plane flew into the other

The aircraft were of the type Boeing B-17 Flying fortress and Bell P-63 Kingcobra, both used during World War II.

Videos posted on social media show one plane flying into the other, causing them to quickly crash to the ground in a cloud of smoke and flames. Debris from the destroyed planes spread across the airport grounds as well as onto a nearby freeway and a shopping mall, according to Dallas’ mayor.
