The accident occurred shortly before 11 o’clock on Tuesday morning northwest of Vaverön in the middle of Siljan.
– Both people are out of the water and are awake and talking. But they are still out on the ice, says Mathias Henricsson, police spokesperson.
Will rescue with hovercraft
Rescue services, police, ambulance and the Sea Rescue Society were all involved in the rescue effort. First on the scene was an ambulance helicopter.
– The Sea Rescue Society’s hovercraft will be used to rescue the people because the ice is quite bad in some places, says Mathias Henricsson.
At 12:15 the police announced that the two people had been taken to hospital by ambulance helicopter. The extent of the damage is still unclear.
