During the afternoon, several calls were received about people fighting with each other on Götgatan in Stockholm. According to information to TV4 Nyheterna, it concerns supporters from Hammarby and Dutch Twente, who meet tomorrow in the Conference League’s second qualifying round.
– It’s not something I can go into, but the police are on the scene and will investigate what happened, says Towe Hägg, press spokesperson at the police.
When the police arrived at the scene, the fight had stopped, but two people have been injured and at least one person will be taken to hospital by ambulance, the police said. An investigation into assault has been launched.
Supporters stopped from the match
Some of the perpetrators may have left the scene in cars, according to information given to the police. It is unclear how many people were involved in the fight.
– We will collect that during the investigation, says Towe Hägg.
During the last meeting between the clubs, a big fight broke out in the stands. Because of that, Twente have stopped their fans from going to Thursday’s return match at Tele 2 Arena.
The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been involved in the matter, writes The Express.
“The ministry is aware of that. The embassy in Stockholm has received some requests for help. Dutch citizens receive consular assistance,” the embassy writes to the newspaper.
