Two people missing – wanted in Piteälven

Two men have disappeared from a bathing area in Älvsbyn.
A major rescue operation is underway.
– They were supposed to swim, we don’t know where they are now, says police spokesperson Maria Linné.

Police, rescue services and ambulance have been on site in Älvsbyn since 11 o’clock for a major operation.

Two people who were going to swim have disappeared and are being searched for with great resources.

– We have alerted the emergency services, ambulances and we also have a helicopter that is on its way from Umeå, says Angelika Bergman, alarm and control operator at the emergency services Nord.

The persons are currently being sought in Piteälven.

SOS Alarm states for Piteå newspaper that it is about two men.

The swimming area is located next to a campsite.
