Two painters in Dalarna taken out on strike: “Employers want to bring in uneducated people”

The employers want to remove the skills requirement in the collective agreement and that the probationary periods be longer. Abandoned skills requirements would in the long run risk that wages will be lower, the union believes.

Agreement failed

The painters have gone on strike after negotiations on a new agreement failed, between the employer’s side and the Painters’ Association. The employers’ side said late on Thursday evening yes to a mediation offer, while the union said no.

– The painting companies can only regret and state that it will not help the painting industry to continue developing in the right direction, writes Pontus Sjöstrand, CEO of the painting companies, on his website.

If the strike continues until May 24, painters at three more workplaces in Dalarna will be put on strike.
