When M. Night Shyamalan makes a film, a twisty story is guaranteed. This year he lured audiences back to theaters with Trap: No Way Out. In 1999 and 2000 he made two films ringing in the cash registers today in a double pack on TV run. In both The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable we see action star Bruce Willis from his sensitive side and it suits him damn well.
The Sixth Sense on TV: Bruce Willis as an empathetic child psychologist
“I can see dead people And when they’re bad, it gets cold,” is probably one of the most legendary film quotes. Unforgettable is how child star Haley Joel Osment whispers the words with tear-filled eyes in The Sixth Sense.
In the thriller he plays nine-year-old Cole, who has become an outsider because of his gift. His mother suspects psychosis and so the psychologist Dr. Crowe (Willis) takes on the distraught Cole. He actually manages to gain the boy’s trust and find out the frightening secret.
The Sixth Sense is an atmospherically dense thriller that you can watch again and again. Willis’ unusual role was part of a deal he made with Disney after totally freaked out on another film set.
Unbreakable is a completely different superhero film
A gripping thriller also awaits you with Unbreakable. Here Elijah Price (Samuel L. Jackson) suffers from the Brittle bone disease and desperately searches for his physical counterpart. He seems to have found that in David Dunn (Willis), who was the only one to survive a terrible train accident without a scratch. Comic fan Price firmly believes that David is a superhero and tries every means possible to convince him of the theory.

In both films, Shyamalan’s strength lies in incorporating the supernatural elements into the real world in a completely believable way. So it remains unclear for a long time whether we are actually dealing with paranormal phenomena or with the protagonists’ psychoses. The King of movie twists Lets us take our breath away here too and shows Willis’ role as a sensitive and inconspicuous character in both films. The unusual casting as a sensitive child psychologist is the cool action star’s best role.
When will the two thrillers The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable be on TV?
The Bruce Willis Marathon starts on today, Sunday, October 6th at 8:15 p.m. on RTL II. The channel then shows Unbreakable at 10:20 p.m. The ghost film will be repeated on October 7th at 2:15 a.m. and the superhero film on October 8th at 12:30 a.m.
