Two Norfolk men charged with drug trafficking

Two people are facing charges after police seized illegal drugs, money and drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop on Concession 14 Townsend on Oct. 4.

The vehicle was stopped just after 5 pm by members of the Norfolk OPP and Haldimand/Norfolk Community Street Crime Unit.

A quantity of suspected cocaine and fentanyl, Canadian currency and drug paraphernalia were seized by police.

Two people were arrested and later charged.

A 21-year-old Norfolk man is charged with opioid and cocaine trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime and failure to comply with a release order.

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.

A Norfolk resident, also aged 21, was charged with cocaine trafficking.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 7.

“The OPP Haldimand/Norfolk Community Street Crime Unit, with active participation from the public, should be commended for their efforts to remove significant drug traffickers from the community. This is another wonderful example of building relationships with a shared vision for safety and well-being,” Inspector Andy Tait, Norfolk County OPP Detachment Commander, said in a media release.
