Family doctors Meet three new residents training in Chatham area

The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance has welcomed two new members to its board of directors.

Angelo Ligori and Christina Mel officially joined the board during its Oct. 5 meeting, stated a CKHA media release.

Ligori, an engineer, who was born in Italy and grew up in Leamington, brings 45 years of experience working at Shell, BASF and most recently Greenfield Global in Chatham.

He moved to Chatham in 2005 to serve as plant manager at Greenfield Global. He later served as business development manager before retiring last year.

Ligori is passionate about Chatham-Kent participating in a number of community initiatives including spearheading the Thames River Trail project.

In welcoming Ligori, chairperson Deb Crawford said, “His valuable skillset and passion for the Chatham-Kent community will be a great addition to the board and our mission of guiding CKHA in the delivery of best practice care.”

Mel, who was born and raised in Wallaceburg, holds a bachelor of science with a specialization in nutrition and dietetics from the Western University as well as a graduate certificate in retirement residence management.

For the past decade, Mel has held positions on a variety of committees in the health care field and works closely with seniors in the community as general manager of a retirement residence, the CKHA said.

In welcoming Mel, Crawford said, “Her knowledge of the health system and experience in the retirement sector will be a valued addition to our board and guiding CKHA in its delivery of safe, high quality care.

She added, “It is a priority of the board to attract members who bring the skills we need to ensure that we can offer guidance to the important work of CKHA administration and staff, and provide oversight on behalf of the communities served by CKHA.”
