The sci-fi horror franchise founded in 1987 with Predator was almost on the verge of extinction after Predator – Upgrade. But then the unexpected rescue came two years ago with the streaming film Prey. The standalone prequel thrilled fans and critics. Now there are two new Predator films coming that take completely different directions.
Predator 6 is coming: The sci-fi series goes into the future with Badlands
As reported by the Hollywood Reporter, among others, 20th Century Studios has announced the development of the next Predator project. This goes by the name Badlands and will be again from the creative duo behind Prey implemented: Dan Trachtenberg takes over the direction, while Patrick Aison contributes the script.
There is no concrete information yet about the plot of the new Predator film. However, it should this time setting in the future be located. And of course the legendary extraterrestrial alien hunter will be there again and will be looking for new prey.

And that’s not all. Thanks to the success of Prey, the studio is planning further Predator projects. From now on, Dan Trachtenberg will be the driving force behind the scenes to expand the Predator universe.
According to Deadline, in addition to Badlands, a sequel to Prey is also in development. This could be based on the story of the Commanche hunter Naru in the early 18th century. However, a return of leading actress Amber Midthunder has not yet been confirmed.
Badlands: When is the next film in the Predator series coming?
According to plans, Badlands is scheduled to go into production in July this year. A specific start date has not been set, but we expect one Release 2025. It is also not yet known whether the new Predator film will be streamed again on Disney+ and Hulu or even on the big screen in the cinema.
