Two men face charges after shots fired, car rammed in Ohsweken: police

Two Ohsweken men are facing numerous weapons charges after police say shots were fired and a firearm was pointed at a driver on Thursday afternoon.

Six Nations police say the victim reported traveling in the area of ​​Mohawk Road and Third Line Road at about 2 pm when another vehicle approached from behind.

The victim said the occupants of a vehicle, described as a gray GMC truck, appeared to be angry and were making hand gestures.

Police say the victim attempted to pull over to let the vehicle pass before it was rammed by the truck.

Shots were fired and a firearm was pointed at the victim, say police.

Police officers saw the suspect vehicle traveling erratically from Third Line Road to Onondaga Road and Second Line Road. Police attempted to stop the vehicle without success.

Police pursued the vehicle onto Argyle Street in Caledonia but stopped due to dense fog and heavy traffic.

Haldimand OPP officers saw the suspect vehicle a short time later traveling in Caledonia. The suspects were arrested on King William Street in Caledonia and police say a firearm was found inside the suspect vehicle, which police say was stolen.

A 26-year-old man is charged with nine different weapons offenses, including firearms in motor vehicle; prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition; weapon: possession for dangerous purpose; and discharging a firearm with intent. He is also charged with taking motor vehicle without consent; and fail to comply with a release order.

A 19-year-old is charged with firearm in motor vehicle; dangerous driving; flight from police; possession over $5,000; assault peace officer; assault with weapon; and breach probation.
