Depending on how you measure good fortune, Adam Conti could well be one of the luckiest people in Brantford.

The 37-year-old realtor and father of two young children has won OLG’s POOLS lottery twice in the past two weeks, winning $ 90,445 on Nov. 24 and $ 88,585 on Dec. 2.

“I’m very humbled and blessed to have this opportunity,” Conti said. “We paid off our student loans and got everything sorted out, put money away for the kids and for the future.”

OLG describes POOLS as a sports game where a $ 5 wager allows participants to pick the sport, card number and which team will win each match-up. Getting the most correct picks entitles the winner to the prize pool, or a share of it.

Conti, who is a football fan, said playing POOLS involves analyzing sports and predicting winners.

“It just so happened this season that the underdogs are winning,” he said.

“When you’re competing in a contest with other people and they’re picking the favorites, you’re the benefactor of the larger payouts.”

Conti said he has played the POOLS contest for many years, mainly for entertainment.

“This season has been remarkable. It’s like a dream to be honest. I’ve won three major pools this year. ”

He likes to think the “luck of the Irish” may be a factor in his lucky streak because his wife, Karissa, is of English-Irish heritage.

“I said to my wife, ‘I won again. You’re my little leprechaun, ‘and she said,’ Get out of here! ‘”

Conti said they are still processing the news of the winnings.

“It’s going to be a very nice end of the year here for my close circle.”
