Two Palestinians have been killed in an Israeli air raid on the Nur Shams refugee camp in the occupied West Bank, the Palestinian authorities there said early Thursday.

Israel’s military (IDF) says an operation is underway in Nur Shams near the town of Tulkarem, along the West Bank’s northwestern border.

“During the operation, the aircraft struck two terrorists who posed a direct threat to the forces,” the IDF said in a statement.

The incident occurred after three people, including a commander of the terror-labeled Islamic Jihad group, were killed in an Israeli attack on a car in Jenin in the northern West Bank on Wednesday.

According to the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank, at least 430 Palestinians have been killed in the area since the outbreak of war and several thousand more are reported to have been detained.

Violence in the West Bank, which has been under Israeli occupation since 1967, has intensified since the Gaza war erupted with Hamas’ bloody attack on Israel on October 7.
