Two men, suspected of having planned a terrorist act against the Riksdag in Stockholm, have been charged in Germany. Federal prosecutors filed the indictment Aug. 12 in state court in Jena, which will decide if and when the case goes to trial, the AP reports.

The two defendants planned to shoot police officers and other people at the Riksdag house in Stockholm, according to the prosecutors. They tried repeatedly to get hold of weapons, but failed.

The men were arrested in Gera in eastern Germany and have been in custody since spring.

The men, who are Afghan citizens, are suspected of having connections to a branch of the terrorist group IS and are said to have planned the act as revenge for Koran burnings in Sweden.
