A 43-year-old St. Thomas resident is facing a series of charges after being involved in a fight that sends another individual to hospital.

Police say they responded to a disturbance in the 300-block of Talbot Street at about 10 pm on Monday, when two people were injured as a result of a fight. They were both treated at the scene by paramedics and the person police described as the “victim” was taken to hospital for further treatment.
A 43-year-old from St. Thomas is charged with assault causing bodily harm, unauthorized possession of a weapon, use of a poisonous substance and failing to comply with a probation order, police said. The accused was arrested Tuesday night and held for a Wednesday morning court appearance.

Man charged – while at courthouse
Two St. Thomas residents wanted on outstanding warrants have been arrested, police say.
In one case, officers were on patrol on Tuesday when they located a 38-year-old from St. Thomas who was known to be wanted on an outstanding warrant for breach of probation, police said. The person was arrested and released with a future court date, police said.
Another St. Thomas resident was at the Elgin County Courthouse on Wellington Street in St. Thomas to deal with an unrelated matter on Tuesday when police say officers realized they were wanted on an outstanding warrant for charges of impaired driving and drug possession, dating from April 2023.
The 34-year-old was charged and released with a future court date.
