A man and a woman were hit by a car during the night in Ljusne in Söderhamn municipality. They both had to be taken to hospital in an ambulance.
The driver of the car, a man in his 40s, fled the scene of the accident but was later identified and arrested. The car was impounded during the night for a technical examination.
The man is suspected of gross negligence in traffic, gross drunk driving, causing bodily harm and contagion from a traffic accident.
The injury status of both people is unclear.
