The first explosion occurred at 02:17 in a gate to an apartment building in Upplands Bro northwest of Stockholm.
“No one is physically injured as far as we know, but there is material damage to the gate,” says Anna Westberg, press spokesperson at the police.
Barely two hours later, at 03.58, it rained again, this time in Upplands Väsby.
“We also received several calls here about a loud bang and here, too, it is at a gate to an apartment building. Here, just like the first detonation, it is cordoned off pending a technical investigation and we are collecting material and information to get a picture of what has happened, says Anna Westberg.
The police’s national bomb protection will investigate the detonation sites and there is currently a large blue light operation in the northern parts of Stockholm.
– No one has been arrested, but it is an ongoing operation and we are looking for the person or persons behind the explosions, says Anna Westberg.
It is still too early to say whether there is a connection between the night’s detonations.
– At the moment we cannot say that, but we are investigating whether there is a connection with the previous events as well, says Anna Westberg.
A preliminary investigation regarding the public danger of devastation has been initiated.
