Haute-Savoie and Ain were placed on orange alert following the heavy snowfall that fell in the morning, with 16 centimeters already in Evian. Météo France therefore recommends caution.
Meteo France recommends to be very vigilant this Friday, December 9 in the departments of Haute-Savoie and in Ain following the snowfall of this Friday, December 9. These departments have therefore been placed on orange alert, the meteorological establishment having already noted that “significant snowfall” is still in progress with in particular 16cm of snow in Evian. Météo France also warned of the risk of ice and freezing precipitation which should continue until noon.
According to the bulletin these snowfalls “continue (…) until midday and in particular in the pays de Gex, around Valserhône and Geneva, in the lower valley of the Arve and more temporarily around Annecy, with intensities of ‘order 1-3 cm per hour, temporarily 5 cm’. Many images have already appeared on social networks.

20 other departments are currently on snow-ice yellow vigilance, in the east of the country but also in the northern tip of France. Some departments are also on avalanche yellow alert, Meteo France therefore recommends caution.
