Two people died when a car and a bus collided and caught fire on national highway 52 south of Kumla on Friday evening.
The alarm came at 9:16 p.m. on Friday. When the emergency services arrived at the scene, the bus and the passenger car were in flames.
The fires in the vehicles were preceded by a “very strong” collision, according to the police.
The two deceased persons are said to be the drivers of the two vehicles.
No passengers should have been on the bus.
– It was an empty bus, and the driver was on his way back to the depot, said Therese Triumf, head of communications at Länstrafiken Örebro to TT late on Friday evening.
According to the police, it is a biogas bus. Explosions in pressure tanks and tires meant that the police and emergency services initially had to keep their distance.
At around 11:30 p.m., the police announced that the fire was out.
The burned-out bus and car must be recovered from the scene.
“The vehicles will be impounded for technical examination. A preliminary investigation regarding negligence in traffic and causing the death of another has been initiated to clarify the sequence of events,” the police write on their website.
