Two people are dead after yesterday’s avalanche accident in Abiskofjällen, reports SVT.
– At present, and out of respect for those involved, we do not have additional details to disclose, they say to the channel.
Just before 4 pm yesterday, the rescue service was alerted to Abiskofjällen after an avalanche swept a helicopter.
A total of seven people were affected.
During Friday morning, a tourist company announced for SVT that two of the people involved died.
Relatives must be informed.
The people who were aboard the helicopter were on their way up to a mountain peak and then get down off piste, so -called Heliskiing.
According to Sara Jönsson at the Maritime and Air Rescue Center, the helicopter stood still on the ground when it was pulled in an avalanche.
A pilot must have been in the helicopter when the avalanche broke out.
“The helicopter has gone with a little bit in an avalanche, but there have been no people in the helicopter,” she told TV4 during Thursday evening.
