Two dead after helicopter crashes into building in Florida

On Monday morning, one of the Florida police helicopters crashed into an apartment building in Pompano Beach in Florida in the United States, US media reports. Two people died and two more people were injured, according to CNN.

One of the people who lost their lives, a woman, was in the apartment building when the helicopter crashed into the building.

According to a statement from the authorities, the helicopter was on evacuation after an alarm. The Fox network’s local television station WSVN reports that the crash was caused by an engine failure that occurred shortly after the helicopter took off.

Footage from the accident shows smoke coming from the helicopter in the air before it falls to the ground.

A total of three people were on board when the accident occurred. The two people who were injured do not have life-threatening injuries, according to the authorities.

One of the victims has been identified as Terryson Jackson, who worked in firefighting for 19 years.

“As a paramedic, he influenced society on a daily basis and gave patients pre-hospital care of the highest class. He consistently demonstrated an unparalleled passion for the job. He always provided expert care, compassion and reassurance to patients in need,” police said in a statement after the crash.
