Two cases of measles in Kalmar County: The first in ten years

Two cases of measles have been diagnosed in Kalmar County, and extensive infection tracing is now being done around each case with the aim of identifying individuals exposed to infection. So far, Region Kalmar has not released further details about where and when the two cases were discovered.

Measles is one of the most contagious diseases there is, and it is enough to be in the same room as an infected person to get the disease if you lack protection.

According to Region Kalmar, a person with suspected measles should avoid public transport and waiting rooms. You are also advised not to seek emergency care, but to contact 1177 instead.

The first symptoms of measles are usually a dry cough, irritation and red eyes, and the well-known rash usually appears after a few days.
