Two boys have been arrested on probable cause on suspicion of murder after a 25-year-old man was shot dead in Gävle last night, the Public Prosecutor’s Office writes in a press release. Both boys are under the age of 18.
According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, it cannot be ruled out that there are additional suspects.
Loud bangs were heard
The police were alerted at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday that loud bangs had been heard in the Sätra district. An injured man was found on the ground outside. The man was taken to hospital and the police were initially tight-lipped about how seriously injured the man was.
The police suspect that the shooting has taken place in the criminal environment and the crime scene has been cordoned off for a technical investigation.
The murder in Gävle is the 57th fatal shooting in Sweden in 2022. At the end of October, a 16-year-old boy was shot dead in Sandviken, about two miles west of Gävle.
