The man who was found shot on Saturday evening in Gävle died during the night from his injuries.
The police have now started a preliminary investigation into murder.
The police were alerted at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday that loud bangs had been heard in the Sätra district. An injured man was found on the ground outside.
The man was taken to hospital and the police were initially tight-lipped about how seriously injured the man was.
At 03:00 on the night of Sunday, the police went out with information that the man had died from his injuries.
The police suspect that the shooting took place in the criminal environment, but it is unclear who and what is behind the act.
Two boys arrested for murder
The crime scene has been cordoned off for a technical investigation.
The public prosecutor’s office writes in a press release that two boys, both under the age of 18, have been arrested on probable cause on suspicion of murder.
The murder in Gävle is the 57th fatal shooting in Sweden in 2022. At the end of October, a 16-year-old boy was shot dead in Sandviken, about two miles west of Gävle.
