Two Blenheim men facing drug trafficking charges

Two Blenheim man are facing drug charges following a drug search warrant being executed by members of the Chatham-Kent police intelligence section.

Two Blenheim man are facing drug charges following a search of a Talbot Street West home members by officers with the Chatham-Kent police intelligence section.

Police alleged approximately $3,000 worth of fentanyl, methamphetamine, hydromorphone and clonazepam was seized for analysis from the Blenheim home on Feb. 9 as part of a drug investigation.

Digital scales, packing materials, cellphones and a large amount of Canadian currency were also seized, police said.

The two accused, age 35 and 31, have been charged with five counts of drug possession for the purpose trafficking, police said.

Both accused were released with conditions and a March 16 court date, police said.

Man accused of attacking woman with scissors

A 34-year-old Tara, Ont., man faces several charges after Chatham-Kent police responded to reports of a domestic disturbance on Chatham Street in Harwich Township.

Police said a man and a woman were arguing Tuesday evening, prompting the man to leave the home.

The man later returned and allegedly kicked in the door to the woman’s home, damaging the door frame, police said.

Once inside, the man allegedly caused damage to the doors and kitchen appliances, police said.

The man then allegedly threw the woman to the ground and attacked her with scissors before leaving the home and damaging her car as he left the property, police said.

The accused was located a short distance away and arrested, police said.

The accused, police said, had been released from court on June 17, 2022, with conditions he reside at an address in Tara, where he was to remain round-the-clock, seven-days-a-week, except for precise exceptions , police said

The accused was charged with breaking and entering, assault, mischief, failing to comply with a release order and two counts of assault with a weapon.

He was taken into custody and held pending a bail hearing, police said.

Man arrested after Chatham-Kent police respond to suspicious person call

A 36-year-old Chatham-Kent man was taken into custody early Wednesday morning after Chatham-Kent police responded to a suspicious person call on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

Police arrived at 4:30 am and found a man knocking on the windows of a business, causing a disturbance.

It was determined the man was unable to care for himself, police said.

He was arrested for breaching the peace and taken to police headquarters, where he was held in custody until he could care for himself, police said.
