Two area men are sharing a $100,000 Encore win.
Derek Johnston of Brantford and Mark Johnston of Lynden work together in the printing industry, and often send each other pictures of their tickets saying, “Is this the winning ticket?”
Their ticket for the Lotto Max draw on May 9, 2023, turned out to be just that, after Derek checked the ticket on the OLG app and discovered the last six of seven Encore numbers matched in exact order.
“I was shocked but happy,” he said. “I texted Mark to tell him about the win and he didn’t answer. His wife had to wake him up.”
Derek plans to purchase a new set of golf clubs, while Mark said he’ll pay some bills and buy a new lawn mower.
“Our co-workers want to know when the pizza party is,” quipped Derek.
The winning ticket was bought at Good Luck Variety on Dunsdon Street in Brantford.
