Twitch streamer QTCinderella hosted her annual show, the Stream Awards, on December 7th, celebrating the scene itself. But the actor Grave Van Dien (28, Stranger Things) still had a score to settle with the gaming clan FaZe and it got out of hand. Because it insults the masculinity or the lack of this masculinity among the controversial group of gamers.
That was the scandal: Actor Grace Ban Dien was actually tasked with presenting an award for the best shooter player at the QTCinderella Stream Awards 2024. But she used her time on stage to settle accounts with the gaming clan “FaZe”:
I’m so excited to introduce the best first-person shooter player because I’m stuck on Bronze in every game I’ve ever played: that’s why FaZe Clan never really welcomed me. That’s right, boys, right? No matter, I’m not a fan of Donald Trump anyway.
The actress added on Twitter:
The FaZe boys are so brave online, but when they saw me last night they just stared and whispered. Micro energy.
The “Micro Energy” was understood as a reference to “Big Dick Energy”. With this, Van Dien apparently wanted to express that FaZe’s gaming streamers lack “masculinity”, in the figurative sense, but also in the pants.
In Stranger Things, Van Dien plays the role of “Chrissy Cunningham”.
Actress becomes streamer
What does the actress do on Twitch? Van Dien decided to end her acting career and become a streamer in March 2023 because she couldn’t stand the film industry anymore (via GameStar).
She streams under the name “bluefille” and has 320,399 followers on Twitch. Clan FaZe accepted her in March 2023 (via Twitter).
This was what the streamer said at the Stream Awards:
Actress is attacked and insulted by FaZe
What was the reaction? FaZe boss Richard “Banks” Bengston (33) tweeted back after their performance at the Streamer Awards and their tweet about Micro-Energy (via sportskeeda):
You’re an ugly bitch lol, no one is afraid of your baby voice or your 40 pound emo boyfriend. Stop clinging to our shit, no one knows you or gives a damn about you. You tried to force your way into FaZe, you’re a fucking weirdo that none of us wanted, and YOU’RE STILL PISSED.
Bad boys clan regroups, but things go wrong and actress is the victim
What’s that about?? The FaZe Clan is originally a group of shooter players who have achieved notoriety and fame in the scene. They deliberately appeared controversial and also played with the image:
But the clan became increasingly commercial over the years, even going public and apparently trying to become more diverse by bringing people like Grace Van Dien on board.
The original members were against this realignment. Grace Van Dien was a red flag for them and a symbol of everything that was going wrong in the new FaZe Clan. They were quickly kicked out of the clan.
Later, when FaZe’s shares plummeted, Banks took command again with the help of an investor and got FaZe back on track. In a sudden move, new members were thrown out of the clan and the “No girls allowed” sign was hung on the tree house again.
As you can see from the tweet, the tone is rough. Episodes like the one with Grace van Die apparently want to be forgotten.
How did her outburst at the Stream Awards go for the actress? Disastrous. Van Dien has since deactivated her Twitter account and Banks has deleted the tweets. Apparently he doesn’t really regret his statement, because you can still find retweets of the discussion:
The action at the Stream Awards probably shows that it’s better not to rehash certain things. In any case, the feedback to van Dien’s action seems to be devastating. Just when the usual suspects, i.e. Asmongold, jumped on the topic and clearly sided with FaZe Clan.
According to Asmongold, they behave like asses, but that’s how it’s always been, that’s how people know and love the clan.
For Asmongold it is clear: Van Dien was just a quota woman and anyone who insults what gamers have or don’t have in their pants has to live with the echo: Twitch: 26-year-old beats 9 men in the election for streamer of the year – Asmongold rumbles: “Only because she is a woman”
