A player has taken on a special challenge in Borderlands 2. He put in over 800 hours of play, only to be beaten by a copycat.
What special challenge was that? Twitch streamer HeyBlasty played Borderlands 2 with the goal of finishing the loot shooter without taking a single hit. This challenge is also called “No-Hit-Run” or “Hitless-Run” and also exists in other games.
HeyBlasty streamed the entire project on Twitch over the course of 9 months. In total, he needed 826.8 hours for the self-imposed challenge, reports the streamer on X.com. In his 112th attempt he finally did it.
According to PCGamer, HeyBlasty spent a lot of the time developing the perfect route through the game in order to avoid damage as effectively as possible.
The imitator takes someone else’s idea and is faster
What’s the deal with the copycat? Shortly before HeyBlasty completed his hitless run for the first time, another player was successful with the same challenge.
The Twitch streamer and Borderlands speedrunner “darksmoke11” also started a hitless run in Borderlands almost a month ago. In the first stream for the challenge, he also said that he came to the idea through HeyBlasty. He also wants to use some of HeyBlasty’s routes in his attempts.
After just 13 attempts, darksmok11 managed the no-hit run – just about a month after the challenge started. And he was even finished earlier than the idea creator HeyBlasty, who wrote on Reddit: “darksmoke11 completed the run less than a day before me. I’d like to say 10 hours to go, but it could have been a bit more.”
While HeyBlasty wasn’t the first player to complete a hitless run in Borderlands 2, he’s still getting a lot of recognition on Reddit. Many users congratulate him and emphasize what a “great success” it is.
