Jasmin aka “Gnu” is one of the best-known gaming influencers on German Twitch and YouTube. She also uses her platform to talk about critical topics such as sexism in the gaming industry or beauty obsession. When it comes to dating, however, their notoriety seems to lead to unexpected problems.
What are these problems? On been.
Gnu writes that there would probably only be “Raya”, an exclusive social network on which celebrities can also hang out.
But the streamer also seems to be open to options in other ways: she recently took part in the YouTuber Sophodoph’s blind date format. In her reaction, she explained that she had always met her previous partners in everyday life (via YouTube).
Supermarket instead of Tinder?
Why is this so strange? Normally, people who are in the public eye tend to struggle with the opposite problem: users who create profiles with their pictures on social networks or dating apps.
The Twitch streamer AnniTheDuck shared a post with such a fake profile in November 2022, shortly after her relationship ended. Not only was the streamer’s name, picture and even her interests used: the person even wrote in the description that she had just gone through a breakup and wasn’t looking for a relationship.
At the time, AnniTheDuck called this handling of her separation “a new level of disgusting” (via X). So it’s not surprising that dating apps in particular are taking action against supposed fakes. However, it is unclear why the platforms did not simply give Gnu the opportunity to verify their identity.
What were the reactions? Gnu’s post collected almost 300 comments full of more or less helpful advice. Some users recommended proactively contacting support to prevent a ban.
Others, however, had fun coming up with alternatives that were as questionable as possible:
Some hopeful people promptly tried their luck and asked the streamer directly. However, these requests remained unanswered – at least in the publicly visible comments.
This is how it can work: Twitch streamer tells how her boyfriend conquered her heart: “He carried me into LoL”
