Twitch streamer Knossi will be back on TV soon, but somehow the show doesn’t fit

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The self-proclaimed king of the internet, Jens “Knossi” Knossalla (36) is one of the biggest streamers on German-speaking Twitch. But his heart belongs to television. Now he returns with Lets Dance back onto the screen.

For Knossi it was always clear that he wanted to go into show business. His first television appearances were as an amateur actor on Richter shows, as a participant in game shows, and as a poker tournament host.

His last major TV appearance was probably taking part in the Wok World Cup on ProSieben in November 2022. Knossi then appeared on YouTube in the survival show 7 vs. Wild, where he impressed the viewers as the most inexperienced participant with his endurance fortune surprised.

Knossi used part of his broadcast time on 7 vs. Wild to talk about the current situation in classic television. He spoke of his love for the medium, but also that television urgently needs to reinvent itself.

The next big Twitch streamer railed against television – Knossi on 7 vs. Wild: “How can you be so stupid?”

Now Knossi is returning to TV: He will be on the RTL show Let’s Dance.

Knossi swings his dance leg on RTL

What is this show? Let’s Dance is a dance show that has been broadcast on RTL since 2006. More or less prominent participants are accompanied by professional dance partners and compete against each other.

Who are the participants? The upcoming 16th season of the series will feature social media celebrities alongside more classic celebs such as actresses, musicians and comedians.

With the Twitch streamer Knossi, the YouTubers Sally Özcan and Julia Beautx as well as the TikToker Younes Zarou, 4 of the 13 previously known participants are known from their Internet appearances (via rtl.de).

When does it start? The 16th season of Let’s Dance with Knossi will be broadcast on RTL from February 17, 2023.

Other Twitch streamers are also on the move musically:

From Ballermann to Ballroom

What is Knossi’s experience? For Knossi, participation after the fight for survival in tropical temperatures should be the next major challenge. Because so far, the entertainer’s dance performances have been limited to jumping around on the Ballermann (via YouTube).

At Let’s Dance, however, ballroom dances such as the waltz or the tango are in demand. So far, Knossi has probably had less to do with it. When he spoke to a pair of Let’s Dance participants in 2021 and wanted to be shown a few moves, it looked like this:

The streamer will have to work hard to take part in the dance show. But Knossi is ambitious and is sure to be honing a foolproof strategy to clinch the Dancing Star title.

The relationship between the rather new medium Twitch and classic television is quite interesting. More and more internet celebrities are finding their way onto TV because people appreciate the reach that streamers can bring. However, MontanaBlack was quite frustrated after his recent TV appearance:
