Twitch streamer gives viewers control of a knife-wielding robotic arm

Jake “Jake Creates” is a content creator whose content revolves around robotics and gadgets. He now gave his viewers on Twitch control of a robotic arm with a knife attached. It ended up being predictably chaotic.

What was that action? Jake Creates is, by his own account, an engineer-turned-content creator. On TikTok he posts videos for his more than 66,000 followers, in which he turns a toaster into a working controller or creates a robotic flower pot that yells at him if the plant inside is not watered enough.

However, in a July 15 Twitch stream, Jake pursued a different project: He programmed a robotic arm that could be controlled by his viewers. The content creator equipped the arm with a knife and placed an enticing red balloon on the table. It happened the way it had to.

Twitch streamers are constantly coming up with new promotions to entertain their viewers. That sometimes backfires.

“Scared me more than I thought”

How did the experiment go? Jake Creates viewers were able to control the robotic arm using various commands in chat. In this way they were able to influence the vertical and horizontal movement as well as the stretching and bending of the arm.

The streamer itself wisely stayed out of reach of the knife-wielding robotic arm. Finally, the spectators managed to stab the defenseless balloon with a knife and burst it with a loud bang.

While Jake was well aware of the possibility, the loud noise seemed to catch him a little off guard. At the crucial point, a shrill screech can be heard from the off, followed by a throat clearing and a few pitches lower “Ah.”

After recovering from the shock, Jake explains, “It scared me more than I ever thought possible.” The content creator then quickly removed the robotic arm from its power source before it could do any more damage.

The project appears to be just the beginning, however, as Jake hinted that viewers could eventually get control of a NERF gun.

An e-sportsman also recently demonstrated a combination of creativity and technical skill. When a power outage threatened his participation in a tournament, he quickly used his car to get electricity:
