Twitch streamer Kyedae Shymko got into a dispute between two other content creators. Now she got in real trouble for that.
What kind of conflict was that? The original altercation took place in April 2024 between Twitch streamers LightEdits and Joona during a round of Valorant. We reported on the incident on MeinMMO at the time.
The streamer was accused by her teammates of being in a bad mood after she commented “She knows that” on a note to another player. She said she was only being accused of this because she was a woman, called the others “damn losers” and then reported them to Riot. A recording was posted on YouTube by LightEdits.
Others accuse the content creator LightEdit of having provoked Joona until she reacted rudely and then cutting the scene out of context.
However, more than half a year later, it’s another Twitch streamer, Kyedae Shymko, who is in trouble over the whole thing. Because she broke some kind of golden rule.
Misbehavior online can certainly have consequences for “real” life:
Streamer contacts the university of the opponent in the dispute
What did the streamer do? The dispute continues on X, formerly Twitter, where Kyedae, a streamer who is friends with Joona, also got involved. She is said to have sent recordings showing LightEdits’ behavior to his university.
The accusation is obvious: she wanted to ensure that he was expelled from the university because of misconduct. The streamer brought up the topic again around Christmas 2024 and provided screenshots that are supposed to show Kyedae’s message to the university (via X).
She was called a “massive bitch” in videos with hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube. Users describe their behavior as “repulsive” and “diabolical”.
Streamer is criticized for ratting out streamer at his university
What was the fateful thing? The tenor in the comments under various posts about the situation is that Kyedae went too far because she brought an online dispute into real life by contacting the university. It is said: She wanted to destroy his life.
For many this seems to be an absolute taboo. Online and offline life therefore take place strictly separately from one another. This was also evident in the case of the influencer SSSniperwolf, who showed up in front of her opponent’s house after an online argument.
Twitch streamers manage to resolve their conflict privately
This is how it all ended: After Kyedae initially apparently tried to put the situation behind her and removed comments about it, she finally published a statement on Instagram on December 30, 2024. In it, she made it clear that she did not contact the university directly from LightEdits, but rather the university esports team’s X account.
The claim that she had him expelled from school or wanted to destroy his life is false. According to the streamer, she didn’t want to harm anyone. She also calls on people not to jump on the “hate train” and spread false information.
Kyedae explained that she has been constantly harassed about this old thing since Christmas.
LightEdits shared the statement on his X account, saying he had spoken privately with Kyedae and reached an agreement. He believes her that she had no bad intentions. At least everything now seems to be settled for both sides.
It is well known that games like Valorant are often rough. For many, a certain amount of misbehavior in the game is obviously part of the game and should have no consequences in “real” life outside of the Internet. Others are calling for stricter punishments for toxic players: “They should never be allowed to play the game again” – Twitch streamer makes a desperate request to Riot
