Twitch streamer gets €6,700 if he immediately deletes all items on his hardcore character

At the beginning of December, 33-year-old Chuck “Cdew” Dewland got an offer in World of Warcraft Classic that he couldn’t refuse: He was on a hardcore WoW server with his villain and was supposed to delete all of his items in the middle of enemy territory.

That was the situation: Cdew is one of the best WoW players in the world, he made a name for himself in the PvP part of the MMORPG back in 2009. The American has earned almost $180,000 from WoW over the years; his biggest success was winning the Arena WoW Championship 2018 with $30,000 in prize money.

On Twitch he currently plays in the streamer guild OnlyFangs on a hardcore server.

In a Twitch stream at the beginning of December, he had a handicap event going on, and for a certain amount of donated Twitch subscriptions he placed a burden on himself:

  • Anyone who donated 50 subs was forced to “walk” for 5 minutes and no longer run
  • With 80 subs he would delete a bag but was allowed to swap items
  • With 100 donated subs, he had to roll an item that he would then delete
  • But one donor got serious and expanded the rules to include a very special offer.

    “Delete everything”

This was the donation: The viewer “martianpig” donated $7,000, or about €6,700, with the two words: “Delete everything.”

That ended up putting Cdew in a quandary, because if he deleted everything in enemy territory, he would be as good as dead and his level 57 villain would be lost forever. So Cdew rode cautiously to safety while he pondered the offer.

But the voice in the chat was adamant: “Stop riding, delete everything.”

Streamer finds compromise to save his hero

This is how the streamer solved the situation: In fact, cdew deleted all of his equipment on the spot, especially his blue sword “Thrash Blade” which visibly hurt him. But then he teleported himself with the hearthstone to the Horde capital Orgrimmar, bringing his hero to safety.

The donor who complained in the chat apparently didn’t like that and the cruel Twitch chat also complained, but in the end the streamer got through with the solution.

In OG he sold the remaining items from his inventory and then asked if he could send the 300 or so gold he now had to his guild boss Sodapoppin.

Once that was approved, Cdew went back to rebuilding his account as a naked and poor level 57 rogue. He was now poor in the game, but $7,000 richer in real life.

What happened next? Fast forward 6 hours in the stream and you’ll see Cdew hitting mobs with his bare hands while a Warlock and his tank pet do the work. So he obviously leeched his way back up.

This is how it is discussed: The situation was captured and discussed in a clip on X (formerly Twitter). Many people are cynical and believe that the donor can get his money back. Others say that anyone who spends so much money on a gag will no longer have it all. But anyone who empathizes with the streamer says: I would have deleted everything immediately.

The streamer Cdew came out of the situation unscathed, his guild mate MissRage, who was also on the hardcore server with OnlyFangs, was significantly less lucky: Twitch streamer uses a feature in WoW and her heroine is lost forever
