The 31-year-old German streamer TrilluXe served as the motif for the cover photo in an online article in the Süddeutsche Zeitung. But the article was about “Impotence in front of the PC”. The streamer found out about this in the middle of a game of Counter-Strike 2 and found it funny, but somehow not.
Who is TrilluXe?
Süddeutsche Zeitung uses image of streamer as cover photo
What was the image used for? The Süddeutsche Zeitung wrote a medical article on March 20th and titled it “Impotent in front of the PC”.
In order to somehow illustrate this rather abstract article, they apparently got a random photo of gamers and, of all things, found a snapshot from gamescom that showed TrilluXe engrossed in front of a PC.
For the streamer, the combination of the title “Impotent in front of the PC” and his picture was something he couldn’t leave alone.
Especially not when fellow streamers immediately commented with GIFs of limp sausages.
How did he react? In a YouTube video from TrilluXe you can see how the 31-year-old was made aware of the article by the Twitch chat during a game of Counter-Strike 2, couldn’t believe it and had to smile.
He then shared his first reaction, “My little man stands like a one, what am I doing on the cover,” with the world in a tweet.
In the video you can see how he repeatedly deals with the article, asserts his male performance and suspects that he will have to listen to it for the next few years.
He is considering calling in the lawyer Christian Solmecke immediately because every German Twitch STREAMer knows: “Better Call Sol”.
What was the article about? The article in the Süddeutsche Zeitung highlights a study in which it is said that sitting in front of the computer increases the risk of erectile dysfunction: Every 1.2 hours that men spend in front of the computer increases the risk of erectile dysfunction by that Factor 3.57, the study quotes.
But the author of the Süddeutsche takes a critical view of this study. The study from Shanghai offers a “confused graphic” and ends with “The topic needs further research.” For the author, the study only shows the impotence of the research.
He thinks researchers stared at data until they found something to write about.
Who is the author of the article? Werner Bartens is a doctor, non-fiction author and science journalist who has won numerous awards for his work as a medical journalist. During the Corona epidemic, he was repeatedly seen as an expert on talk shows.
How did that end? Under the Süddeutsche’s tweet on the topic, TrilluXe responded and offered the author “to convince him otherwise at a private meeting.”
But the newspaper apparently avoided this conflict by quietly changing the cover photo.
In any case, TrilluXe now has the image of the original article as the cover motif of its Twitter account. The Süddeutsche Zeitung will probably pay more attention next time to who they put in the cover photo when it comes to the topic of “Impotent in front of the PC”.
