The presentation of the upcoming ARPGs Path of Exile 2 managed what hardly anyone else can: One innovation even impressed the Twitch streamer Asmongold, who is actually known for always finding something to complain about.
What is this feature? At ExileCon 2023, the standalone successor to the big Diablo competitor Path of Exile was presented. In particular, the combat system should be more dynamic and brings some changes. The ARPG wants to be more beginner-friendly and heavier at the same time.
A highlight for many players is probably the revision of the weapon change. Even the otherwise critical Asmongold was enthusiastic about this innovation.
If you don’t have money for Diablo 4, you can console yourself with Path of Exile 2, because like its predecessor it’s free-to-play.
PoE 2 seems to have thought of everything
What excites Asmongold? As the Twitch streamer watches the Path of Exile 2 presentation with his viewers, he’s impressed with the new weapon swap. Changing weapons was so cumbersome in the predecessor that it was rarely used.
Therefore, weapon switching in Path of Exile 2 has been given a major overhaul: the player can equip 2 weapons and both are also displayed on the character. Each ability can now be assigned a weapon. If you use a skill, you automatically switch to the appropriate weapon.
Asmongold is pleased with this innovation, but also recognizes a major problem: what about the passives? But developer Grinding Gears has also considered that.
The news that you can assign individual passive skill trees to the weapons, which also change with the weapon change, rewarded Asmongold with raised eyebrows and an appreciative: “That’s pretty blatant.”

After the Twitch streamer was critical of Diablo 4 and said in the first season that he was “done” with the game, Path of Exile 2 could be a welcome alternative. However, he will have to be patient until the start of the closed beta in June 2024.
