Twitch Streamer Accidentally Reveals $35,000 Deal With Biggest MMORPG On Steam – ‘Does Not Donate To Streamer’

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Twitch streamer Tectone accidentally shared with his viewers how much he made from sponsoring MMORPG Lost Ark – and panicked at first. The clip is now being discussed critically.

What stream was that? In what should have been a perfectly normal stream, Tectone, who is a member of the One True King organization, received a visit from his OTK colleagues Matthew “Mizkif” Rinaudo and Emily “Emiru” Schunk.

Together, they took a peek at the stream of newcomer to the organization, Emily “ExtraEmily” Zhang. That’s nice, says Tectone, the three of them would welcome Emily to OTK, she would do great.

The nice moment was cut short, however, when an email appeared on Tectone’s screen that he was reluctant to share with his viewers.

$35,000 for Lost Ark

What was that email? A notification from the Outlook email service appeared in the stream. It clearly showed the subject line as well as the beginning of the message itself: “OTK Media, Inc wire you $35,000. Memo: Inv #LostArk”.

With his sponsorship deal with Lost Ark alone, the streamer earned the equivalent of almost 32,700 euros. He spent a total of 118 hours in the MMORPG, most of it in February 2022 (via TwitchTracker).

However, it is unclear whether the payment relates to this season, as Tectone later notes that the sponsorship was in November. So it could be his share of an OTK event on Twitchvon (via reddit).

How does Tectone react? When the streamer sees the notification, chaos erupts in the stream: Tectone screams loudly, quickly switches the screen to his facecam and first takes a lap of honor through his room.

He keeps shouting how unbelievable it is. His colleagues are visibly confused by the sudden outburst.

However, Tectone also seems to realize quite quickly what he has just shown his 3,000 viewers on average, many of whom can only dream of such sums. When he has calmed down a bit, he says conspiratorially: “Nobody saw that, ok?”

Mizkif, on the other hand, does not seem to understand how this faux pas could have happened at all: “You show your e-mails on your main screen?” Tectone then calls out that he doesn’t know how to turn it off.

Do streamers still need donations and subscriptions with such sums?

How is the clip received? The relevant excerpt from the stream has already been viewed more than 108,000 times, making it one of Tectone’s most-watched clips. The recording also made its way to the LivestreamFail subreddit, the largest streaming-related community on reddit.

One thread there already received more than 630 comments (status: February 10th, 2023, 11:45 am). One of the most liked comments questions the rationale of giving streamers extra money: “Don’t donate to streamers, folks!” (via reddit)

Some reddit users put it into perspective, smaller streamers would definitely deserve support.

Tectone’s reaction is also discussed critically: he panicked when the notification appeared and then acted as if the sum was something special for him. reddit users accuse the streamer of presenting himself to his viewers as less wealthy (via reddit).

In any case, the incident should teach Tectone to take a closer look at its notification settings.

The sums that big Twitch streamers earn are often a hot topic. Especially when compared to the average salaries of many viewers.
