Felix Kjellberg (34), better known as “PewDiePie”, has long been the greatest YouTuber in the world. The content creator has also been back on the Twitch streaming platform since March 2023. However, the account disappeared just as suddenly as it appeared.
PewDiePie streaming on Twitch? The legendary gaming influencer is actually better known as a YouTuber, but PewDiePie actually also has a Twitch channel. However, it has hardly been played on for years.
In March 2023, the surprise was great when PewDiePie’s Twitch channel suddenly went back on the air. Instead of live streams, however, there was only a continuous loop of his old videos – and, strangely enough, entire episodes of the Canadian comedy series “Trailer Park Boys”.
What was it about the channel? Fans initially suspected that the channel was hacked, as happened to the German YouTuber HandOfBlood: His account was suddenly called “Tesla Twitter” and posted news about Elon Musk.
Instead of a hacker, however, the company CoPilo Media was behind it, which according to the website “creates value by [es] Bringing existing content collections to new audiences.” In plain language, this means that they take over accounts from influencers like PewDiePie in order to broadcast certain media, such as the Trailer Park Boys or old videos from a creator.
For now, however, neither the Trailer Park Boys nor ALF nor the cult movie The Room will be featured on PewDiePie’s channel: the channel has been banned from Twitch for unknown reasons. Fans are busy speculating what could have triggered the lockdown.
A certain DrDisrespect can tell you a thing or two about mysterious Twitch bans:
Was an 8 year old video to blame?
What do the fans suspect? Speculation quickly arose after news of the ban broke through the automated Twitter account StreamerBans and shortly thereafter via the streaming subreddit LivestreamFail.
A Twitter user suspects that the whole channel concept may have violated Twitch’s guidelines (via Twitter). However, that seems rather unlikely, since German streamers like Gronkh and MontanaBlack also operate such 24/7 channels with old content.
Others therefore suspect that the content shown may have triggered a ban – because some of PewDiePie’s old videos would violate Twitch rules:
The “Bridge Incident” shouldn’t be on PewDiePie’s channel anymore, but it would definitely be a ban for Twitch. The Yandere Simulator videos are still available on the 34-year-old’s YouTube channel, so there’s a good chance they’ve found their way into the permanent stream.
As usual, Twitch does not comment on the ban, so one can only speculate about the reasons. PewDiePie hasn’t said anything about his channel’s short comeback either – apparently there are other priorities for the YouTuber, who is expecting his first child with his wife Marzia.
