"Twin Peaks"- actor dead

Laurie was nominated for an Oscar three times: for her role as Paul Newman’s crippled girlfriend in The Fifflar (1961), as Sissy Spacek’s fanatical mother in “Carrie” (1976) and as Marlee Matlin’s icy mother in “Beyond Words” (1986).

In 1990-1991, Piper Laurie appeared in the television series “Twin Peaks” where she played the power-hungry Catherine Martell, head of the Twin Peaks sawmill. In 1991, she was awarded a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress for that role.

One of her last appearances was in the 2018 “White boy Rick” starring Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Jason Leigh, among others.
