Among other things, sanctions are proposed in the form of entry bans and freezing of any assets in the EU for a further 120 people and organizations or companies. In addition, a series of new import and export bans are proposed, including against the Russian diamond industry.
“The EU’s policy is firmly in increasing pressure on Russia to stop its repeated violations of UN rules and international law and making these increasingly costly for the Russian war machine,” according to a press release.
The package will now be handled by the member states, mainly via their ambassadors in Brussels. Complete agreement is required for the package to go through.
