TV4 profile Lasse Granqvist now says what everyone is really thinking after the nasty tackle on Jonathan Pudas in the SM final

Skellefteå AIK vented their great anger after the final whistle.
Now Lasse Granqvist gives his view on the tackle against Jonathan Pudas.
– I buy it and I understand it, he says in TV4’s “Rinkside”.

Rögle managed to equalize at 1-1 in the SM final series on Thursday evening after another tight event against Skellefteå AIK. Lian Bischel scored the only goal of the match in the third period, but the big talk turned out to be something completely different.

Pudas tackled

The SHL star Jonathan Pudas recently returned from injury and found himself in the hot air in the second period. When Daniel Zaar put in a solid tackle on Pudas who flew into the sideline and was forced to leave the game immediately.

The refereeing team chose to completely exempt Zaar from punishment, but on the replays you can clearly see that the tackle goes to the head of Pudas. The Skellefteå AIK supporters on site showed their great displeasure and booed loudly – and after the match the head coach raged Robert Ohlsson.

Granqvist’s words

The concern is now great that Jonathan Pudas can no longer play in the SM final series. Criticism has also been directed at TV4 for how they managed the reporting on the nasty tackle, now the television profile is forced Lasse Granqvist to defend the action.
– You hear immediately when you say: “Oh then…” Then you also hear the arena in the background and then it is blown off quite quickly and we get to see the replay. You understand that something has happened that we have to look at carefully. I think the studio sorted it out well, he says in TV4’s “Rinkside”, see the video below.
– Especially the judge who explained how he assessed it, he was calm and matter-of-fact. They are good judges, when they get the chance to explain how they have assessed it and I can say that when he explained it and I sat and looked at the pictures, the assessment that they made on the ice, I buy it and I understand that they assessed the one they did.

The head judge Daniel Eriksson judged the tackle as Zaar trying to body tackle Pudas and it partially hitting his head. That’s why they chose not to send him off and he stands by his decision even after the game.

Lasse Granqvist agrees with that assessment and explains why the referees did not take a closer look at the tackle directly during the match.
– It is also, as you explained in the broadcast, if the judges do not judge it as a five, that is, they have a five on the arm as they say, then they are not allowed to go out and watch the replay and they are not allowed to talk to the situation room, says the TV4 profile in its explanation, see the video below.
– Then it is the assessment on the ice that counts.
