But soon Niklas Wikegård has done his part in the TV box.
Now he is fighting back against the most common prejudice people have about him.
Even as a 20-year-old was forced Niklas Wikegård end hockey career due to “broken knee”. Then a record-breaking coaching career and leadership journey was started that took him to clubs such as Väsby, Hammarby, Boden, Malmö Redhawks, Swiss EHC Chur and Djurgården.

But in 2005 he resigned and left the booth to move to the television side. Where he remained for 18 years and became one of the country’s most high-profile hockey experts at C More and TV4.

Wikegård has become a real favorite with many with his strong personality and brutally honest analyses. He has never been afraid to say exactly what he thinks and thinks or held back from criticizing someone on the ice.
Revealing the truth
But there are also those who have been bothered by the television profile over the years and many have had preconceived notions about him. Now he himself admits the truth about what many people actually believe about him, which is actually the biggest misconception.
– That I am often angry. I’m almost never angry, he admits in an interview with Expressen.

Niklas Wikegård is then asked if he has ever been to a psychologist.
– Yes, damn it. Repeatedly. I have one who is a close friend I usually take long lunches with. It’s good to have a sounding board when choosing a path in life, he says to the evening newspaper.
The TV4 expert does a longer interview before leaving the TV channel and returning to Djurgården, where a new role as sports manager awaits. Then he also opens up about the great sadness after his father’s death and reveals the last time he cried.
– When I sat with my father in the grove of memories. I cry easily. I miss my father a lot and think about everything he has done for me, says Wikegård and remembers one moment in particular in his grief.
– After father passed away, I received some letters mother had saved that he had written to me when he was most angry with me, but without having sent them away. I had to read: “Niklas, you spoiled brat, you got to borrow our apartment in Gävle and live for free, but we came home to things everywhere”… and yes, he really kicked me out. That was the truth. I read and I was ashamed.
