Several television channels showed a short clip in which Ukrainian soldiers call for silence before the impending counter-offensive.
The hacker attack took place on Sunday, which was confirmed, among other things, by Oleg Kruchkov, adviser to the governor of Crimea, which was annexed by Russia in 2014.
When will the Ukrainian counter-offensive begin?
On Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi announced that the country is now ready to launch the counteroffensive, but that it will not announce when and where it will begin. And Ukraine has since continued to deny that the counter-offensive had started.
According to Russia, however, the counter-offensive is already underway. On the night of Monday, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed in a message on Telegram that Ukraine had launched the offensive on Sunday.
Russia states that the counter-offensive started at five different locations near Donetsk and it further writes that “the enemy has not succeeded in achieving its objectives”.
According to the Russian defense, 250 Ukrainian soldiers must have been killed and 16 tanks must have been knocked out in the attack. Ukraine has not commented on the data.
