FC Inter, which plays in the Veikkausliiga, has fired its head coach Jarkko Wissi. The club announced the matter on Monday.
Jarkko Wiss has been released from the position of head coach of FC Inter, Turku club said on Monday. Wiss, 51, was named head coach of Inter, who play in the Veikkausliiga soccer league, at the beginning of the 2023 season.
– The head coach has an important position in the club as an example of activities in accordance with the world of values. We did not feel the values of the club represented by the current head coach. The decision has been made as a result of a thorough investigation process, Inter’s board chairman Nikolas Håkans says in the announcement.
Wiss’ contract would have extended to the end of 2024. He has previously coached Tampere Ilves in 2016–2021.
Inter’s development director Tuomas Välimäki tells Urheilu that Wiss has acted contrary to the club’s values in relation to his position as head coach and manager of the league team.
– Unfortunately, we cannot go any further with regard to the detailed issues of individual employees and personnel. The lost trust of the working community cannot be repaired so that he (Wiss) continues with the club, says Välimäki.
MTV tells Wiss is guilty of inappropriate behavior towards a female employee of the club at the end of the season party.
– Unfortunately, from the point of view of labor legislation, we cannot comment on individual matters of personnel or employees, Välimäki tells .
Wiss is Urheilu’s soccer expert.
