In the session moderated by Okan Müderrisoğlu, the issue of compliance with the rules and regulations of international social media companies in Turkey was discussed. Stating that the most important feature of social media is that it contains very important data and that a great war has been fought to obtain the data, Sayan said, “We are one of the first countries to make legal regulations regarding social media. We argued that social media should have certain rules and made a legal regulation based on the rules followed in daily life. “However, social media sites do not want to comply with the legal regulations in our country unless we force them to do so,” he said.

Stating that the legal framework has been drawn to ensure transparency, Sayan said, “Legal regulations are of great importance in terms of being able to initiate dialogue with companies and find interlocutors there in times of crisis. “Necessary action should be taken against companies that do not comply with these laws, to the extent permitted by law,” he said. Stating that they aim to spread the concept of safe internet to the public, Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan said, “We aim to provide a safe internet experience for both parents and 45 million social media users, especially children.”
