France President Emmanuel MacronBaşketn made statements after the meeting on “Peace and Security for Ukraine” held in Paris with the participation of about thirty countries. Stating that Europe is at a turning point, “Our goal is clear, win, win the peace.
Explaining that France’s support for Ukraine will continue, Macron said that European countries have launched new educational programs for the Ukrainian army and that credit payments will be accelerated in order to facilitate Ukraine in purchases such as artillery systems.
“We must maintain economic pressure”
Referring to the sanctions against Russia, Macron said, “It is not the time to remove sanctions. We must maintain economic pressure, we will continue to mobilize in this regard, and emphasizing that the abolition of sanctions can be evaluated only after peace was established”.
Macron said that Europe should develop a stronger cooperation for its own security and said that Europe should now act on its behalf and pointed out that the US is a reliable ally, but the interests of Europe and the US are not the same.
Calling Chinese President Xi Jinping, Macron said, “I want President Xi to play a completely active role to help us build this solid and lasting peace,” he said that China is a legitimate actor in this process due to its permanent membership in the UN Security Council and previous peace initiatives.
“We respect Türkiye”
