At least 11 people have been killed in a Turkish airstrike on a Kurdish-controlled area of Syria, according to a war monitor. Dozens more people have been injured.

The attack targeted a training facility for Kurdish police, according to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR). The facility is located in al-Malikiyya, a city in the northeastern corner of Syria that borders both Turkey and Iraq.

Turkey has stepped up attacks on areas across the border controlled by Kurdish forces, in what is described as revenge attacks for an attack in the capital Ankara last week in which two people were injured.
