Turkey’s first pocket satellite Grizu-263A, which will be sent into space on January 13 with SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket, is quite remarkable.

THE DAY THAT TURKEY’S FIRST POCKET SATELLITE WILL BE LAUNCHED IS EXPECTED

In the project, which is carried out with the technical support of the Istanbul Technical University Space Systems Test Laboratory as well as the Amateur Satellite Technologies Association of Turkey and TU Delft University, the space team members are waiting for the day when the cube satellite of 5x5x5 centimeters, which they prepared with the “Turkey’s first pocketqube satellite” project, will be launched into space.

The space team, which received its award from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as the first in Turkey among 95 teams in the competition organized by Türksat within the scope of TEKNOFEST, won the second place in the world twice in the “CanSat Competition” Model Satellite Competition held in the USA.

“SUCCESS FROM HERE WILL OPEN NEW HORIZONS”

Team advisor Prof. Dr. Bülent Ekmekçi told reporters that the team achieved significant successes at the national and international level during the process.

Explaining that they aim to design, produce and send Turkey’s first pocket satellite to space, Ekmekçi said, “We are happy that years of effort will now come to fruition. Our pocket satellite has been designed, integrated into the rocket and is now waiting to be launched.”

Noting that they will begin to see the effective use of such satellites as in the whole world, Ekmekçi said, “The success to be achieved here will open new horizons for our team and our city, we look forward to this.” he said.
