Turkey says thousands of refugees returned to Syria in first days after Islamist rebels ousted president Bashar al-Assad.
Al-Assad fled the country a week ago on Sunday. Between Monday and Friday, more than 7,600 refugees returned from Turkey, the Minister of the Interior Ali Yerlikaya said in the message service X.
Syria’s new government has hoped the refugees will return home.
Germany, on the other hand, warned the supporters of the al-Assad regime that they will face trial for their complicity in the crimes of the dictatorial regime if they flee to Germany.
